Spiritual Living
Chapter 9
What Is True Reality?
There is a saying, that which is closest to truth lasts longest.
What we are explaining is described in clear, concise detail in some of the oldest records known to man.
When we talk about what is truth, it appears truth changes!
In waking state—defined by you’re awake— the room is 8’ x 12’ with a green carpet, 5 pictures on the wall, a desk, a chair, other furniture, and a ceiling lamp.
If you go away, when you come back, you expect the room to remain the same.
And it appears to; assuming no children or others come in and change the room. So the room is there. It’s a reality. It’s really there. You can count on it.
Or can you?
Let’s say you fall asleep in the room. Now where is it? Where are you?
Let’s say you start dreaming, back on the farm in old Kentucky, out by the racetrack, chugging a malt brew watching the chickens race around the track. Where are you? Where is the room? A rooster comes up to you in your dream, “Where are you, Mister/Ma’am?” he says.
What do you say?
Not the room—that’s for sure. (No one would admit to the having a green carpet—not that shade, anyway.)
So it turns out what’s true and real can change.
Now, we’ve talked about being awake, asleep, and dreaming--three dif- ferent experiences of consciousness changing. Each change defines our experience.
It turns out, there are even more states of consciousness that we thought; after those three, there is a fourth, called “turiya” in sanskrit. This one is defined as being awake/aware, without any object of attention! Wakefulness without any focused awareness.
It’s just the process whereby we let the mind leave the conscious thinking level, we let the intellect rest, we let the ego as if- rest and we find that we can contact directly that samhita that- it’s actually called samadhi, this experience of transcending this level of turiya, which is the unified field, pure consciousness, this infinity that exists beyond the edge of the universe and beyond that, that- it experiences itself, in itself, by itself, without any object of attention.
And there are programs for that, that we will be mentioning shortly.
Now what we are talking about, is about truth and what is truth and what we have discussed is, even political views change.
What’s outside of the science changes, political views at one point, the King- long live the King and at another time let’s have a democracy, or off with his head and another time in certain parts of the world Communism will be the answer to everything and then a few years later Communism is defunct because it was not the answer to everything, even though every- body believed it.
So truth is continually changing and to be worthy of the name truth, it would have to be something which was true for all time.
Not just true for today, or true for this week but true to be useful informa- tion, it has to be true for now, it has to be true 100 years, a thousand years, a million years from now; that’s useful information.
And one of the things that never changes or in fact the only thing that never changes is infinity. Infinity never changes because it has no boundar- ies within it, so there is nothing to change.
So if there is nothing to change in infinity and it doesn’t change then that’s a level of reliable truth and if we can get that to be stabilized in our awareness at all times we can always live from that level of truth, we will be functioning from that unified field of all the laws of nature and spontane- ously and automatically all of our actions will in tune with all of the laws of nature.
Let thy will be done, will become a reality in our moment-to-moment life, in our daily life and that is something certainly worth aspiring to.
