Beyond Angeles
Introduction
In the fall of ‘96, our 13-year-old was diagnosed with cancer. Everything worked out, though. He’s healthy now and we’re all fine.
But during the “challenge,” we did a number of unusual things, and a number of unusual things happened to us. I did not expect angels to hold my hand, God in the doctor at surgery, dancing with Mother Earth, or a dragon’s compassion, but all that happened.
Nor did I expect, after it was over, that people would say to us, “The way you handled your son’s cancer was awe-inspiring,” or that the way we handled it was “amazing.”
To our surprise, that happened, too.
So I offer this story to you as an example of what is possible— if you’ll just open your mind and let it happen.
